Bouncing Ball
For the first animation project of the course, we were asked to create a simple bouncing ball video. I sketched out this diagram in my sketchbook to understand the principles involved and the video below shows the first version of my bouncing ball, using the animation software TV Paint.
The next challenge was to use this template as the framework for an object or character bouncing along.
As I had drawn my ball fairly small, it made sense to make my bouncing character an insect. With a little splash of colour and spots, it became a ladybird... I like to imagine it has been flicked from off screen.
The most complicated elements then were figuring out the rotation of the underside of the ladybird, with legs and head, and completing the shot on ones (24 frames per second).
