I often return to pictures of Bonfire Night, as I always feel compelled to recapture the atmosphere of the occasion. The varied textures of the typical setting of a field at night, illuminated by a roaring fire, make brilliant subject matter for painting. The smoky mood and warmth of the crowd add to the magic of the moment, which I never tire of revisiting.
