From a typical night walk around my home town of Ipswich, Suffolk. Despite the familiarity of the setting, I still get struck by the interplay of light and motion of traffic at night. Here I'm experimenting with just black oil paint to capture the various textures of the scene, like the wet tarmac and pavement. When looking to express the power of light and dark, I find the starkness of black and white makes the most impact.
