Life Drawing

Life drawing has always been something I really value and in the past I have seen my understanding of drawing leap forward through the practice.

I still recall breakthroughs from years ago. I didn't used to have a great understanding of tone and it was from life drawing that I began to look closer at the subtle differences in light, shadow and mid-tones. I hope to make the most of the open sessions while I'm studying at Cambridge.

The following drawings have an emphasis on animation, considering how the figure changes position and moves within the space. It's useful to have these exercises where I don't have time to overthink and just need to capture what I can before the model moves again. I tried to focus on gestures, the lines of the body and how it is weighted.
